Welcome to Peanut Butter and Julie! I’m brand new to this blogging thing. Other than school papers and professional letters, I’ve never written words for other people to read. But I decided if I survived 2020, I would finally do it. Let’s face it, 2020 was a terrible year. Arguably the worst in my lifetime. I honestly wasn’t sure I’d make it; if COVID didn’t get me, my mental health issues would. But I made it, so here we are.

I read All the President’s Men in high school and decided I was going to be a journalist. I know, how fucking cliché, right? (By the way, if you don’t like profanity, this is DEFINITELY not the blog for you) I was going to write words for a living. I was going to win Pulitzer prizes and change the mother fucking world. My sophomore year in college, I took a general ed US government class and decided I’d be a lawyer/politician instead, and changed my major to political science. I was going to win elections and change the mother fucking world. After graduation, I started working and law school was postponed permanently. I waited tables, worked in retail record stores, spent 14 years in the auto insurance world and another several in health care. Now I am a wrangler at a dog daycare. I haven’t won prizes or elections, and I haven’t changed the world. But I never stopped writing words.

This blog will primarily be about all things pop culture. It is not hyperbole to say that I am obsessed with pop culture. I don’t just consume it, I live it and breathe it. And here, I will write about it. With any luck, you will enjoy reading my words; if not, that’s okay. I used to think I couldn’t write anything that people would want to read. I’ve come to realize that I only need to write words that I would want to read.
